Modern vehicles feature numerous moving components to properly operate with maximum efficiency. The wheel bearing is one of these features. The wheel bearing unit is an integral part of your vehicle’s wheel assembly that allows the wheels to rotate with as little friction as possible. This plays an important role in the functionality and longevity of any vehicle as the very purpose of the automobile is to travel, and spinning of the wheel is an essential part of that process.
There are many warning signs to alert you of an impending wheel bearing failure. Immediate action must always be taken to ensure no secondary damage occurs to other components in your vehicle.
Here are some symptoms of a worn/damaged wheel bearing:
- Clunking or knocking sounds when vehicle is in motion
- Snapping or clicking sounds when steering
- ABS light is on
- Vibration felt through the steering wheel
- Vehicle pulls to one side when going straight
